Barley ("the App") is operated by Outlier Estates LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Barley mobile application for iOS. Please read this policy carefully. By using Barley, you consent to the practices described herein.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Authentication is managed through Supabase Auth. You may also provide a display name, profile photo, and bio.
Barley uses your device's precise location to show nearby venues, display crowd levels, and provide location-relevant recommendations. Location data is collected only while the app is in use and with your explicit permission. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings, though this will limit core app functionality.
With your permission, Barley accesses your camera and photo library so you can take photos and videos and post them publicly within the app. Media you upload is stored on our servers and may be visible to other users.
Content you create on Barley - including posts, photos, videos, comments, likes, and follows - is public by default and visible to other users of the app.
We collect basic usage analytics to improve app performance and user experience, including features used, session duration, and crash reports.
If you opt in, we collect your device's push notification token to send you social alerts (e.g., new followers, likes, comments), venue recommendations, and occasional promotional messages. You can manage notification preferences in your device settings.
Barley integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Barley offers optional in-app subscriptions managed through RevenueCat. All payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card information. Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Apple ID account settings.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings, which will permanently remove your profile, posts, and all associated data from our servers. Some data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Barley is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 18, we will promptly delete that information and terminate the account.
